A Strategic Plan is an important policy document which stipulates the roadmap or direction the EAC Competition Authority (Authority) should take in the effective and efficient implementation of its mandate, based on a clear assessment of its existing resources and capacities. Many changes may also have come in play in the operational environment since the EAC Competition Act 2006, was enacted. Therefore, it is important to develop a Strategic Plan which will be aligned to both the dynamic operating environment and the strategic priorities of the EAC region as outlined in the EAC policy documents.
The EAC Competition Authority Strategic Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24, was developed and adopted by the Council of Ministers. The Strategic Plan sets out key priorities for effective realization of the objectives of the EAC Competition Act, 2006 and alignment with the broader strategies and policies of the East African Community (EAC) as a whole. The Strategic Plan outlines priority strategic objectives and activities that the Authority will undertake to fulfil its mandate of promoting and protecting fair competition and ensuring consumer welfare in the community over the next five (5) years.
